My work deals with the search and characterisation of low-mass stars and brown dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood, open clusters, and star-forming regions as well as the study of the shape of the mass function in the low-mass, substellar, and planetary-mass regimes. More specific interests include:

  • Characterisation of nearest and coolest low-mass stars and brown dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood

  • Study of low-mass stars and brown dwarfs in open clusters and star-forming regions. Optical and near-infrared photometry and astrometry are employed to uncover cluster members prior to subsequent spectroscopic follow-up

  • Low-mass eclipsing binaries

  • Companions to nearby brown dwarfs and substellar members in clusters

  • Metal-poor low-mass stars and brown dwarfs

  • Exoplanets around young M dwarfs

  • Cool white dwarfs

  • Project scientist of Small-ELF at the IAC and an active member of the ERA Chair grant LIOM
